In time there may well be medical issues to be considered, and those can be addressed to some extent with the right personalized diet. While obesity is a challenge at any age for many of us, older people can often be at risk of malnutrition if they are not eating well. Problems with teeth and dentures might mean chewy food should be avoided. The texture of certain foods can also have a detrimental effect on the digestion.
So, older people need variety of foods and healthy eating in doing it. Healthy eating means, energy balance (energy in V.s energy out), that is eat the right amount to maintain a healthy weight, enjoy your food, don’t eat too many foods that contain a lot of fat, don’t have a sugary foods or drinks too often, reduce salt intake, eat food which rich in starch and fiber and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables.
